Economic sustainability projects funded through the levy target Lane Cove’s commercial areas, offering support to our village centres to ensure there are vibrant places to work and shop locally. Council has continued to support the local economy through the Love Where You Shop campaign. In 2015 Council produced the first Guide to Coffee in Lane Cove featuring more than 20 local coffee shops in one convenient guide for local shoppers. The guide, launched at the Coffee Carnevale event, was produced at no-cost to retailers and provided an opportunity to profile their business and its role in the community. Council also hosted the Lane Cove Night Out event, a VIP Shopping Night in the Plaza which aimed to highlight the specialty retail, lifestyle and dining options in Lane Cove. The Christmas Windows Competition and Melbourne Cup were also delivered through the Love Where You Shop initiative. The Village Graffiti Removal Program removed 1593 square meters of graffiti from our main shopping areas. By ensuring graffiti is removed promptly Council helps reduce adverse economic impacts on Lane Cove businesses and supports the local economy by improving the look and feel of public and commercial space.
