Workshops and events funded from the sustainability levy promote engagement with a diverse range of sustainability themes from resource use to bushland management. Sustainability and waste education programs and events ran throughout the year. These encouraged behaviour change across a range of areas. Activities included art workshops using recycled materials, cooking demonstrations using leftovers, balcony gardening and permaculture principles, an introduction to native bees and bush walks and talks. The Captured Photography Competition received over 280 entries for the theme ’Celebrate Lane Cove’. Entries were displayed at Gallery Lane Cove and showcased a variety of people and places that we love in our community. Sustainability Lane was held on Sunday 11 October as part of the Lane Cove Village Fair and included stalls from local community groups including Lane Cove Sustainability Action Group, PermaPatch, OzHarvest, Bike North and the Lane Cove Bushland and Conservation Society. Thousands of people attended the event. A variety of other interactive displays including reptile shows, backyard chickens and a Bike ‘n’ Blend stall.
